How did you feel about the project?I had never done anything like this project before. I usually do not like art and stay away from it. But in this project to pass you need to create an art piece that displayed the perspective our group wanted to present. Making the art piece was the hardest part of the project.
How did this project change your view of incarceration? This project made me rethink my perspective on incarceration. It made me realize that incarceration has both positive and negative effects of the community. After doing the reflection, I realized all the things I had learned about will doing this project. I learned how it changes an inmate, how it affects the community, how it affects the children of the incarcerated and how the laws put people who do not deserve to be in prison go to prison.
What was your high point? This project my high point was at the exhibition. When I realized that my hard work had paid off and people liked my art piece. I also like the atmosphere that night at the MCASD.

wHAT WAS YOUR LOW POINT?My low point was not having an idea in the beginning to work with. My group couldn't get started until we had an idea. But this low point slowly went away once we had the idea we wanted to display.
What was your role in the project and how well do you think you performed this role?In my group I was the project manager. I contributed to my group by making sure everything was completed properly. I also helped my group members by finishing their jobs and making sure everything ran smoothly. I performed this this role to best of my ability. Although it may have not been apparent, I did the job I was supposed to do.
What was your most important take away from this project?I couldn't decide between the take a ways I felt were the most important. So, the first one is about my perspective change on incarceration. My perspective on incarceration was completely shifted. I never knew that the incarceration rates in America were so high. I also never knew that minor offenses can give you 25 years to life.
My other take away from this project is that working in a group isn't as bad as I would've imagined it to be. I used to hate group projects but now I know that I can cooperate well with others. Learning this will give me a positive outlook on group projects. This is also important because being able to work with others is a life skill. |
