Core Growth Area for Engineering
Below I have a picture of my first Core Growth Area I completed in the beginning of senior year. We had ten squares to place on the chart, and we had to place them in the areas we felt strong in. The areas that have the most squares are the areas I believed I was strongest in. The area I felt as if I was strongest in was mindfulness. I choose that Core Growth Area because I feel as if I am always people into consideration. Being mindful is something that is very important to me and will always be most important.
Below is my most recent Core Growth Area Reflection. I was only allowed to place two squares on the chart for Engineering. We were also not allowed to place two of the squares on top of each other. I added one block in curiosity because I feel as if during our explore and play units I got really curious about finding out what each specific system involved. Being curious about the systems really helped out because it made my decision for which system I wanted to be in easier. I placed my last block in the section for collaboration. I choose collaboration because I feel as if we had to work with our peers a lot to understand the systems. I also feel as if having to collaborate made us become closer as a pod.
Evidence
The evidence I have for curiosity is something I wrote for my Design Challenge Core Growth Area Reflection. I choose this as my evidence because I feel as if I really explained why we needed to be curious for the beginning of the project. If I wasn't curious I wasn't going to be able to get my work done. In the very beginning of senior year, we had to work with someone to design a product for them that solved a problem they had. My partner and I had to ask each other a lot of questions, and in order for us to come up with questions we needed to become curious enough to keep the interview flowing. This was very hard for me to do because I usually don't ask a lot of questions. Although it was difficult for me to do, I still managed it.
During the "Explore and Play" units I also became very curious about what we were being taught. Being interested in something that was being taught was very unusual to me. Being curious about each thing we were learning about helped me gravitate to a certain area I wanted to work in. A moment that also intrigued me to become curious was when I got to witness the 3D printer in action.

I also used the a piece from the same worksheet for my evidence for collaboration. During this beginning semester in engineering, I feel as if we've collaborated more than I ever have before. I personally do not like to collaborate with people because of bad experiences I've had prior to senior year, but so far our class has been the friendliest group of people I've been surrounded by. The most change in my perspective of collaborating occurred when we had to design a product for our partners. Doing this so close to the beginning of the year was strange to me because I had to tell a person I had never really talked to before about a problem I had that needed a solution. Although I went into doing that assignment with a negative attitude, I believe it really affected me positively.
Goals for the Rest of the Semester
One of the Core Growth Areas I feel as if I need to improve on the most is courage. I put in no blocks for either class in this section. I believe I need to focus on courage because it has really effected my ability to understand things thoroughly and not be confused. I need to build up my courage to ask questions in class or state my true opinions. One step I can take to solve this problem is the simplistic solution... JUST DO IT! I need to stop myself from over thinking and just doing things. Whenever I do this I feel as if I have the most positive experiences.
