"Oh, the Humanity!"This semester we had to create an art piece that represented an aspect about incarceration we wanted to represent. My group decided to focus on the aspect on how incarceration took away persons humanity. Our art piece was called "Oh, the humanity!"
My group came up with the idea for our art piece when we read an excerpt "In the Penal Colony". When we read this, I thought of the similarities between puppets and prisoners. When we visited the museum there were lots of strange and unique pieces. We wanted our piece to be as intricate as possible. We did not want our audience to understand it without observing our piece. Doing the critiques helped us make our art piece as professional as possible. Without refinement our art piece would not have been as good as the other ones there. When we got the idea of what to create, my group started to work on it as soon as possible. When we started working, we collaborated by doing different parts at the same time. While one group member was constructing the puppet, someone else was painting, cutting the hands out or working on our artist statement. |
